One Christmas, I was visiting my aunt to hear her sing in her church's annual Christmas
cantata. The music was beautiful, and the Christmas story was told in a way that felt both familiar and comforting. But what stayed with me wasn't the music.
It was a brief comment the minister made afterward.
While telling the Christmas story, he mentioned the donkey that carried Mary to Bethlehem and said that even the donkey had to have faith. That simple thought stopped me in my tracks.
I began wondering about that donkey.
Was she nervous?
Did she feel too small for such an important job?
Did she wonder if she was brave enough?
The more I thought about her, the more questions I had. My imagination filled with "what ifs"
I never planned to write a Christmas story. In fact, it wasn't on my list at all.
But sometimes a story chooses you.
This one certainly chose me.
I knew I wanted to tell the Christmas story from the donkey's point of view—from her
heart. A story about courage, faith, and discovering that you may be stronger than you think.
And that's how Jenny's Journey of Faith was born.
